My participation in the LeaderShape program came as a surprise. In Spring 2010, I was nominated to participate in a weeklong program designed to help students become more effective leaders. The program was set up as a retreat in which I and about fifty other students developed our leadership skills through discussions, activities, lectures and networking. We learned lessons of community value, relationships, possibilities, integrity, and positive change in relation to being a leader. In one short week, I developed a vision for the future, learned more about others, and even made life-long friends. I recommend that any student that is lucky enough to receive a nomination apply for the program.
