Michigan State University is known for its amazing international opportunities through the study abroad program. I decided to participate in one of those programs during Spring Break 2011. My program was called International Engagement in Mexico. Over 100 students and faculty members visited four different cities in Mexico to do community service. My group travelled to Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico and participated in community service at Pastoral del Amor, a home for abandoned students with disabilities. We also were able to visit the Mayan ruins of Chichén Itzá and Uxmal. You can read more about my experiences in my reflection paper below.
